Deidre Reed has been instructing swimmers in an aquatic environment since the age of 16. She started working as a lifeguard and instructor at the Military Base in CFB Suffield, Alberta. At the same time she did some part-time guarding and instructing at the YMCA in Medicine Hat.

My parents started me with swimming lessons at the age of 4, while still living in France. From there I continued to participate in the sport of swimming, making my way through the Red Cross courses and competing with the local summer swim clubs.
